Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice

T he general goal of the committee is to connect faith leaders with  resources and opportunities to support and promote workers' rights. The prophetic witness of these leaders is profoundly inspiring and sends a clear message to the community - all religions believe in justice! The Interfaith Committee for Worker  Justice (ICWJ) is a group of faith leaders that meets regularly to discuss issues of workplace justice and support the work of HIWJ. If you are a faith leader and interested in joining the ICWJ, please contact Laura Boston. The committee runs the following programs:

• Labor in the Pulpit, Bimah, Minbar
  Labor in the Pulpit, Bimah, Minbar is a program designed to celebrate the sacred link between faith,   work, and justice. Invite an HIWJ staff person, a worker, or someone involved in workers' rights to be a guest speaker on Labor Day weekend at your congregation, or focus your Labor Day weekend service on worker justice issues. •  Faith Brunches
  HIWJ partners with local congregations and hosts brunches throughout the Houston Metropolitan Area to foster a fellowship among Houston's faith community, and mobilize faith leaders around issues of worker justice. 
  
  
• Union Solidarity
  Houston Interfaith Worker Justice supports unions' campaigns to fight for improved wages, benefits and working conditions for workers. We invite faith leaders to join us in support of workers organizing to generate positive change and win a voice for themselves in the workplace.
